Sports Acupuncture

Sports acupuncture is a specialized form of acupuncture that is specifically geared towards athletes and individuals who engage in regular physical activity. Rooted in centuries-old techniques used in the treatment of martial arts injuries and informed by contemporary acupuncture and sports science, sports acupuncture employs the stimulation of specific points on the body to promote healing, relieve pain, and improve athletic performance.

It can be used to treat a wide range of sports-related injuries and conditions, including sprains, strains, tendonitis, and muscle spasms. Sports acupuncture can also help to improve athletic performance by increasing range of motion, reducing recovery time, and promoting mental focus and relaxation.

Mario Gallina L.Ac. CMTPT will conduct a thorough assessment of the athlete’s condition and specific needs, taking into account factors such as the type of sport they participate in, their level of activity, and any existing injuries or conditions. Based on this assessment, Mario will then design a customized treatment plan, which may involve acupuncture as well as other complementary techniques such as cupping, electro-acupuncture, fascia scraping (gua sha), and massage (tui na).

Sports acupuncture is a safe, natural, drug free and non-invasive approach to injury treatment and athletic performance enhancement. It can be used in conjunction with other treatment modalities, such as dry needling, physical therapy, sports medicine, or orthopedic interventions, to help athletes recover from injuries and reach their full potential.
